Privacy policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Mister Backyard (operated by Acerbus LLC) runs this online store and everything that comes with it, including the website, its content and tools, and the products we sell (together, the "Services"). Our store is built on Shopify, the platform that makes the Services possible. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to set out what personal information we gather, why we use it and who we share it with when you browse the store, buy from us or get in touch.
Please take a moment to read it. When you use the Services, you confirm that you have read this policy and understand how your information is handled as described below.
Information We Collect
The information we hold about you depends on how you use the Services. It can include your contact details, such as your name, delivery and billing address, email address and phone number; payment and order records, including confirmation that a payment went through (full card numbers are handled by our payment providers, not stored by us); account details if you create one, such as your login and saved preferences; your shopping activity, such as products you viewed, placed in your cart, bought, returned or cancelled; anything you write to us when you contact our team; technical data from your device, such as browser type, IP address and device identifiers; and information about how and when you move around the store.
How We Collect It
Most of this information comes straight from you, for example when you place an order, create an account or send us a message. Some is gathered automatically as you use the store, through cookies and similar technologies. We may also receive information from the companies we work with to run the store and from other partners.
Why We Use Your Information
The details you provide allow us to take payment for and deliver your orders, run your account and send you updates about your purchases, answer your questions, send offers and news if you have agreed to receive them (you can unsubscribe whenever you like), keep the store secure and spot fraud, and meet our legal obligations.
Who We Share It With
We share information only where needed: with Shopify and with providers that handle payments, delivery, analytics and IT on our behalf; with advertising and marketing partners, who use it under their own privacy policies; with anyone else you ask us to share it with; and with regulators, courts or police when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.
Shopify and Your Data
Our store is hosted by Shopify, so the information you give us is handled on the Shopify platform and by other providers who may be based outside Australia. You can read how Shopify handles personal information in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy at shopify.com/legal/privacy/app-users, and some requests can be made directly through the Shopify Privacy Portal at privacy.shopify.com/en.
Analytics, Order Tracking and Advertising
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the store, through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay. Clarity and Microsoft collect this data using first- and third-party cookies; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement. Order tracking on our Track Order page is provided by the Track123 app. We advertise through Google, which may use cookies to measure the results of our ads; see policies.google.com/privacy.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools help the store work properly, remember your choices and measure our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the store may not work as well without them.
Children
The Services are designed for adults, and we never intentionally gather details about people under 18. If you think a child has given us their details, let us know and we will remove them.
How Long We Keep Information and How We Protect It
We keep personal information for as long as we need it to provide the Services, meet our legal and tax obligations or resolve a dispute, and then delete or anonymise it. We take reasonable steps to protect it, but no method of storing or sending data is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending sensitive details through channels that are not secure.
Your Privacy Rights
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and opt out of marketing at any time. To make a request, email contact@misterbackyard.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 24 hours on business days and resolve your request within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
Overseas Transfers
Because our providers operate in several countries, the details you share with us can be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States. When this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipients protect it in a way that is consistent with Australian privacy law.
Updates to This Policy
This Privacy Policy will be revised whenever our practices or the law change. The latest version will always be on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and we will let you know of any change where the law requires it. By continuing to use the Services after an update is published, you accept the revised policy.
